SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT

Under the general direction of the assigned Building Administrator, utilize leadership, advocacy, and collaboration, school counselors promote student success, provide preventive services, and respond to identified student needs by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses academic, career, and social emotional development for all students. Counselors will promote student success through the implementation of a preventative, proactive school counseling program using the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model:  A Framework for School Counseling Programs (2005).

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

School counselors focus their skills, time, and energy on direct and indirect services to students.

 

FOUNDATION:

Supports development and implementation of the district comprehensive school counseling program around three domains: academic, career, and social/emotional development.
Develops and maintains a written plan for effective delivery of the school counseling program.
Communicates the goals of the comprehensive school counseling program to education stakeholders.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed a regular elementary or secondary school building. Some work to be performed outside the regular school day to meet with students and families. Exposure to normal amounts of dust and fumes from office machines and occasional loud noises. Ability to use arms, hands and fingers; lift 20 pounds and push/pull 40 pounds; and to sit for prolonged periods of time are all required.

*Clover Park School District total possible pay consists of base salary plus the following:

Building Centered Responsibility - 5 days

District Centered Responsibility - 2.5 days

Event Responsibility - 1 day

 

 

Attendance required for compensation of responsibility pay (building-centered, district-centered, and event).

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

 

Employment with Clover Park School District is conditional pending completion of a Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint background check as required by RCW28A.400.303. (NOTE: All associated background check fees are the employee’s responsibility.) The fingerprint scan must be completed prior to the first day of employment.

Employees who are anticipated to work 630 hours during the school year (September 1 through August 31) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, long term disability and basic life insurance benefits.

Retirement and Deferred Compensation

 

Eligible employees are required to be a member of the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems Plan. For eligibility  information, check on the link to the Department of Retirement Systems' web site.

 

Employees also have the ability to participate in tax deferred 403(b) and 457 Deferred Compensation Plans (DCP). These are supplemental retirement savings programs that allows you control over the amount of pre-tax salary dollars you defer as well as the flexibility to choose between multiple investment options.
